Return Policy

South Austin Music wants you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. We are happy have you as part of our extended music family. If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, we ask that you follow the guidelines associated with our return policy below:

When your purchase arrives, you have a 48hr approval period to inspect your purchase. If you are not satisfied you must contact us within this time frame to obtain an approval code. If we do not hear from you, we will assume you are satisfied and the sale is complete.

USED INVENTORY: ALL SALES FINAL – NO EXCEPTIONS. We describe our used merchandise as complete as possible and we ask that you call the store at 512-448-4992 to discuss any used items you might be interested in before making the purchase. Our expert staff can answer any and all questions you may have and even play the instrument for you.

NEW INVENTORY: Purchases $50 and under are not available for returns – no exceptions. Purchases over $50 are subject to a 20% restocking fee for amps and pedals, 10% for all other merchandise. If you decide to return an item during the 48hr period, you must obtain an approval code from us and we will gladly refund the purchase price after the item has been inspected upon return.

NON-RETURNABLE NEW ITEMS: mouthpieces, recorders, harmonicas, reeds, kazoos and/or any other similar item.

Returned items MUST be in the original condition and packing in order to qualify for a refund.

The item(s) must be shipped back to us using the same shipping method and carrier we used to ship the item to you.

Please note: If returned, all shipping costs, both ways, are to be paid by the customer. We cannot refund the freight charges.

Steps for Returning an Item:
Please call South Austin Music at 512-448-4992 for a RETURN APPROVAL CODE before sending any items or your return will not be approved.

– Pack item in its original carton and packing material with ALL accessories and original paperwork.

– Ship item back using the same carrier used to ship item to you.

– Item MUST be insured for full retail amount.

– You are now the responsible party of the package and are taking full responsibility for the item in case of damage or loss. If the item is damaged while in transit, we will notify you, but YOU must file a claim with the carrier.

– Once the item is received and we have determined it to be in its original condition, we will issue a acredit for the item, minus all shipping charges and applicable restocking fee.

If Damaged During Shipping:

We carefully check the condition of each item before shipping. Damage in transit is uncommon, but if the shipping box looks damaged, do not accept it until the delivery person has indicated damage on the proper form. Damage to the exterior of a box does not necessarily indicate the item within is damaged. If your item is damaged, do not send it back without notifying us first. Follow the “Steps for Returning an Item” above. If any step is altered, we may not be able to issue refund to you. Once the package is returned to us and we determine that damage in shipping has occurred, we will issue a full item refund or we will get another matching item to you as quickly as possible. We want you to be satisfied with your purchase.

Restocking Returned Items:

Amplifiers – A 20% restocking fee will be charged for returned amplifiers.

We cannot warranty the “tone” of the amp. Specifications, speakers, etc. often change without notice. The amp you heard in one room may not sound exactly the same when you try the same amp in your room. We prefer not to ship an amplifier unless the buyer knows he/she wants to keep it. The amps have a much greater chance of being damaged during shipment than any other product. Please research your choice.

Pedals – A 20% restocking fee will be charged for returned pedals.

We cannot warranty the “tone” of the pedal. Manufacturer specifications and tone can change without notice. Customers return pedals because “it didn’t sound the way I thought it would”, even though they never played or heard one before. We prefer not to ship a pedal unless the buyer knows he/she wants to keep it. The returned pedals are never “new” again, and we do not wish to sell “demo” quality pedals.

All other Products – 10% restocking fee will be charged.
