Description
The Electromuse Eye-Beam pickup is a vintage, early type of electromagnetic pickup for musical instruments, primarily used on lap steel guitars.
- Vintage and Early Adopter: Electromuse was a pioneer in electrifying musical instruments, and the Eye-Beam pickup was one of the first practical electromagnetic pickups on the market.
- Lap Steel Focus: Electromuse primarily manufactured lap steel guitars in the 1940s and 1950s, capitalizing on the popularity of Hawaiian-style music.
- How it Works:The Eye-Beam pickup uses electromagnetic induction, converting the vibration of the metal strings into a magnetic field, and then into an electrical signal.
- Sound: Electromuse promotional materials from 1946 claimed the pickup could “play all strings with equal power and richness of tone”.
- (2) Large “Geared” Pots: One on each side of the pickup, one for volume and one for tone.
- Both pots integrated into pickup.
